Gzip error on update? (Mac)

New-ish user here, and I’ve tried to do due diligence in searching out answers. Apologies if I’ve missed something obvious.

For the first time in months, Syncthing won’t automatically update to the newest version. When I click the button to manually trigger an upgrade, it is throwing an error.

2019-12-15 13:35:32: upgrading: gzip: invalid header

I’m using MacOSX 10.13.6.

Thanks for your help. And thanks for the considerable effort in crafting this software for us. It is synchronizing the assets of a community nonprofit newspaper here.

Probably my fault, I was trying to move to zip archives for Mac. I’ll look at it.

Fixed by uploading old-style archives. And, related,

Thanks, Jakob — but now I’m getting this error.

upgrading: incorrect signature

Uh…

Right, of course, because the signature includes the archive name so just repacking the same thing from zip to tar.gz doesn’t cut it.

There! Now I actually fixd it for realz. Downside is that now the macOS notarization thing won’t be smooth but we’ll sort that in a future release.

Second time’s the charm. It just upgraded flawlessly.

Thanks so much, Jakob.
