Windows node won't transfer data, Android and Mint work fine

I first set up Syncthing on my computer running Mint and my phone. This worked perfectly fine right away and made me very happy. However when I went to set up my Windows PC, no data would transfer. Everything is on my local network with nothing fancy on the router or VPN etc. I have tried turning off the firewall completely to rule out that to no avail. The funny thing is that it will connect and shows a “last seen” date and time of a few minutes after I restart Syncthing. So it connects but only briefly.

This is the contents of my syncting.log file

I’m new to syncthing and don’t know much about the backgroud business of it, but it’s strange that it’s listing 2 folders, default and Pictures. I have “default”, but no folder set up on it named “pictures” but I have 2 others that aren’t listed. None of the folders will sync, including “default”

I had btSync installed previous but gave it up when they limeted the folders. I turned it off in case it was causing any conflicts.

A side question I will just throw in here. If I just want folders to sync, and to be able to edit files on each computer, do I set “master” on none of them or all of them? I have read most of the guide and didn’t find this explicitly clarified.

Can you provide a screenshot of the webui on this device? Also, the log should mention that it managed to connect, if it actually does. Also, check process manager for extra syncthing processes. There always should be two, one with little ram usage, one with more ram usage. If you use some UI wrapper, like synctrayzor then there only might be 1 process.

I didn’t get exactly what you mean. Personally I’m using master for the first sync to transfer all files to the other nodes…

A repo with “master” set will accept no changes whatsoever, but will send changes that happen on it to other devices. You want to have no masters set, so that changes on all devices are reflected across the network.

There are two processes as you mentioned. One is 1.4MB, the other is around 75MB

Here is a screenshot on the device that isn’t transfering files.

Edit: The text I pasted is the entire log file I have.

That’s a good explanation, simplypeachy. I have master set on only the folder with all the files I wish to transfer to the other machine. I imagine if Master was set on both, nothing would transfer.

Well the devices are disconnected, hence nothing is transferred. Are all devices in the same LAN?

If yes, you might need to disable Windows Firewall (sometimes adding an exception does not work).

See Hosts remain disconnected, cluster setup?

Alternatively, make sure port forwarding is setup, or UPnP is working properly, and global discovery is enabled. In that case they should find each other over the internet, and be able to connect.

All devices are on the same LAN. Disabling the firewall Didn’t fix the problem. Port forwarding shouldn’t be needed for LAN syncing correct? Global discovery is enabled.

Right after reset, it connects for a brief moment (Turns green) and lists as last seen at that time.

Something is really off here.

The log you provided does not match the screenshot, as the folders don’t match and, more importantly, the versions don’t match.

The log is from an instance with version 0.11.13 (which is very old) and in the screenshot Logos has version 0.10.24 (which is ancient) and as far as I remember incompatible with version 0.11.x.

Please update all your devices to the current version and try again.

That is strange. It has automatic updates enabled and just recently downloaded it. I’ll update and see what happens.

The version on the Mint machine is v0.11.24, Linux (64 bit)

Updated and it is currently syncing.

On a related note, when I shut down the process, I got an audio alert telling me to call 1-xxx-xxx-xxx [edit, removed number to malware scammers, @calmh] for tech support. Sigh guess I should have been more careful with my downloading. What a derp thing to do.

you downloaded Syncthing with malware? please explain
