Why Receive Only Folder still be synced to delete files

Hello Support,

I set my iphone folder to ‘send only’ module, my mac folder to ‘receive only’. Before I delete the files, the system works well.

Yesterday，I found the files are all synced. So I delete the files from my iphone in order to free up the space. However, Today I found that my Mac folder which is set as ‘Receive only’ is synclogized. I lose 40G videos, and at that time I didn’t set the file versioning, so these videos are truely lost.

I thought I may not restart the server, so some seting may be applie. I restart the server and then set the simple file versioning. After that, I tried delete the photos and videos again. Also waiting the sync of Mac folder fron iphone folder. I found the delete actions are still performed.

“Receive Only” only means that the folder doesn’t send any local changes to remote devices. It still accepts all changes itself, and “changes” in terms of Syncthing mean both new files, modifications, and deletions.

It seems that you’re new to Syncthing. Please make sure to have proper backups before experimenting on actual files that you haven’t got spare copies of .

Thanks for your reply. I may need more time for the documents.

Fortunately, I realized that I have the backup for the disk (RAID 1). And I already recover the deleted files.
