I noticed while changing a bunch of ignore patterns that they seem to be applied immediately but I am prompted to restart to activate the new configuration.
Is it possible a restart is required? Is it only certain circumstances, e.g. ignoring a file that is already indexed, that require it?
It isn’t necessary to restart after changing ignores. That it prompts you for it is a bug. I fixed one recently where any “save” on a folder would pop up this dialog, regardless of whether any change at all had been done.
In the meantime you can just Close the edit folder dialog after Saving the ignores, as the latter already saves the changes to the .stignore file and you don’t need the save the folder config for that.
Do we have a ticket for this?
