When should I use SyncThing Discovery replication?

I am new to the SyncThing architecture, so I can be missing some details from the SyncThing specs. My understanding is that SyncThing Discovery server is a lightweight gossip router (not supposed to consume a lot of CPU, memory and disk), that said why do we even care to replication this case?

I assume that globally it makes sense as you can refer to the closest network peer and also as a failover mechanism, but on a private network in a single region and for internal usage, does it makes sense to have it?

No
