have seen many discussions wrt problems while upgrading from DSM 6 to 7.
Could not find any clear answers if upgrade from 7.1 to 7.2 is easy and recommended, in my case, DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6 to DSM 7.2-64570 Update 1.
DSM update is warning that it would potentially be required to update some packages like SyncThing manually.
Using SynoCommunity edition v1.23.5, Linux (64-bit Intel/AMD), installed via Package Center, which does not explicitly list DSM 7.2 as compatible just yet.
I have the same concern. From what I can tell, there has been no confirmation from devs that Syncthing works on DSM 7.2… an announcement would be nice.
Hence I am waiting to update until it is confirmed that it is compatible.
Yes, we’d be happy about a confirmation that DSM 7.2 is supported by the SynoCommunity edition as well as that upgrade from DSM 7.1 should not create trouble for already set up Syncthing.
Yes - I also had the same concern, and had held back on the DSM 7.1 to 7.2 upgrade for this reason.
However, I have now upgraded two systems to DSM 7.2, and Syncthing has worked perfectly across the upgrade. Nothing anywhere near the problems we saw with DSM 6 to DSM 7, though I did make a backup copy of my Syncthing @appdata folders just in case.
Big thanks to Andre and the other Synocommunity contributors for a robust implementation!
Go ahead and perform the update.
Syncthing still works without an issue; I did not even have to reconfigure anything.
If you’re using Docker, please know that it will be uninstalled and replaced with Container Manager. All of my containers were automatically migrated with no issues.
I’m using the docker version on 7.2 also with no problem. That 7.2 upgrade scared the @$&! Out of me when docker disappeared. The new docker implementation is better but they could have put a note in the release notes that they were changing the name.
I can confirm this for a DS1621xs+ with update from DSM 7.1.1 to DSM 7.2 works flawlessly. In DSM 7.2 the package “Docker” no longer exists, it is now called “Container Manager” and is basically the same, only better and with more features. But also the Docker version of Syncthing works fine, I have both in use.
