Translation to spanish

Hi there, I’d like to volunteer to help translate Syncthing’s documentation into Spanish. I noticed that it’s currently only available in English, and I think it could benefit other users if it were also in Spanish. It’s just a matter of time and ChatGPT. If possible, could you please let me know how and where I can do this? Thanks for your time and consideration.

That’s amazing!

On second thoughts, no thanks. I believe this is something the reader could do if they wanted that, with the associated tradeoffs in the result being partially a machine fantasy.

I understand English and I have already participated in other translation projects (for example, in qBittorrent Remote). I was just referring to the fact that for concepts I don’t know how to translate in the most accurate way, I can use ChatGPT. It will also be helpful for syntax. The majority of the work will be done by me personally, not ChatGPT.

Please don’t use ChatGPT for translations. I’m a Spanish native speaker and I find myself switching the language to English in many applications and especially in documentation because of poor auto translations.

Documentation must be accurate, and that requires knowledge what is being documented and mastery of the language its being written in, neither of those has any machine. I’m sure you’ve read terrible docs in the writer’s native language before and can understand.

@calmh has a good point in my opinion. Officially badly translated documentation doesn’t add any value, it’s just frustrating for the reader. If the user really needs the help of an autotranslation they have the power to do it.

If you go ahead and help translating something and find yourself not finding the words, just let others do it. That being said, I appreciate your intentions.

Kindly.
