Hi all,
I’ve been using Syncthing for over a year, and everything was running “fine” until now.
Last week, I needed to change the names of some folders to match a new naming convention. The only change I made was replacing spaces with hyphens.
After that, Syncthing just stopped working properly.
For some reason, the backup computer was recreating the folders with spaces instead of replacing them with the new hyphen convention.
After several hours with errors and no changes in the sync process, I decided to delete the folder on the backup computer and resync everything from scratch.
I deleted the folder using the UI, as well as the .stfolder and database.
When I started the sync process, nothing worked properly anymore. Even after 10 hours of direct connection, the files didn’t get synced. I tried to sync everything from scratch around 5 to 6 times, and I even reinstalled the application after purging the installation and removing all folders from .config and other synced folders.
Now, if Syncthing is open in the browser, both computers run really slowly, sometimes freezing the system, cutting audio (due to the freezes), and even Syncthing appears to be frozen.
In one of my attempts, after 8 hours, the number of files in the gui was exactly the same as at the beginning of the sync process.
Is there a way to find out what the problem is? Is there an issue with version v1.18.0-ds1?
Both computers are running Pop!_OS 22.04 BTRFS: one is a notebook with a Ryzen 5, and the other is a desktop computer with a Ryzen 5 2400G.
The folder contains millions of folders, around 260 GB, but this wasn’t a problem before, as the number of folders and files is the same; they just have different names.
