Syncthing not syncing Obsidian vault: "Up to Date" but changes not propagating (GrapheneOS Pixel 8 + Debian 13)

PC Configuration (Debian 13):

  • Folder ID: obsidian_vault

  • Path: ~/Documents/Obsidian Vault

  • Folder Type: Send & Receive

  • Versioning: Enabled, cleanup after 10 days, interval 30 sec

  • Ignore Patterns: /.obsidian/workspace, /.obsidian/workspace-mobile, /.obsidian/hotkeys.json

  • Additional: Watch for changes, Ignore permissions, Full scan interval 60 sec

Phone Configuration (Pixel 8, GrapheneOS):

  • Folder ID: obsidian_vault

  • Path: /storage/emulated/0/Documents/Obsidian Vault

  • Folder Type: Send & Receive

  • Versioning: Disabled

  • Ignore Patterns: Same as above

  • Permissions: Notifications, Location, Network, Sensors

  • Manage app if unused: Disabled

  • Storage scopes: Disabled (full access)

Web GUI Status:

  • Both devices show: “Up to Date”

Issue (bidirectional):

  • Create Test.md on phone → Does not appear on PC, but PC “Recent Changes” shows: Pixel 8 changed obsidian_vault/Test.md 2026-02-13 18:56:16

  • Create file on PC → Nothing appears in phone’s “Recent Changes”

  • Devices are connected and access granted

Question: Why aren’t files syncing despite Syncthing logging changes and showing “Up to Date”?

On the Debian 13 PC, is the user running Syncthing the same user who owns ~/Documents/Obsidian Vault?
