Syncthing in OMV on an Odroid: "failed to setup inotify handler"

My first post on this forum is to ask someone to please give a beginner’s dot-to-dot how-to, so I can figure where/how to run the command echo "fs.inotify.max_user_watches=204800" | sudo tee -a /etc/sysctl.conf in order to increase my inotify limits. I keep getting “failed to setup inotify handler” errors on three of my largest folders. Everything was running smoothly until I started up those three folders, 400-500GB each. I am running Syncthing inside Openmediavault on an Odroid-XU4, and syncing to two Macs, all on the same local network at home. I know the command is run in a cli on the NAS, but I have not been able to determine if I enter the command in my root directory, or is there a “cd” I need to do first?

Or perhaps I am completely off the trail. Could someone please help a newcomer?

You just run it in the shell, regardless of which directoryyou are in. If you are logged in as root you can skip the sudo word.

Thank you. I just ran the command in the shell, rebooted the server, and then restarted Syncthing. The warning showed up for just one of the folders, so I restarted Syncthing again, and the warning went away.

Thanks again.
