Syncthing a phone and a PC wirelessly tethered to the same phone

I’m trying to sync my phone and a PC that I have wirelessly tethered to the same phone. My phone changes it’s IP address assignment for wireless tethering regularly.

What address settings would allow me to make this a non-finicky process?

Currently this is the address in my computer:

dynamic, tcp://0.0.0.255:22000, tcp://10.200.0.86:22000

(The last being the static IP of the phone that I had to put because nothing else was working).

Is there a way to just say sync with the gateway?

It’s going to depend on your phone’s OS and how it handles networking with a tethered device.

Things actually mostly work fine with the above address settings, and without the hardcoded ip but sometimes take long …

Hi,

If you are always at home the best thing to do is have static addresses for your devices so you know what the address is going to be.

The other option which I use so I can synch anywhere is to use tailscale. It will create a private peer-to-peer tunnel with a stable IP address and computer name that you can use in the software and it will never change.
