Syncing whole folder but exlude contents for one device

Hello, I hope this topic isn’t too common as I googled a bit for an fitting answer but didn’t find any.

I want to sync a folder with a couple of sub folders between 3+ devices. Only my raspberry pi (the host more or less) and my main PC need access to all the files and folders. For example on my tablet it needs the whole folder MINUS specific sub-folders. How can I realize that?

Do I add the folders on the targeted device under ignore patterns? I want to exclude them because they are rather big so syncing isn’t really desirable as the space on the target device is limited. Does the ignore on the target device also prevent ST from downloading the folders from host?

Yes, ignoring on the target is a sound solution here. It will not download ignored files.

You could also split it up into several individual sync folders and share with the devices only those that they should have. It gives you the added flexibility of not needing the same directory structure (top-level) everywhere.
