Hello. I have ~10 folders syncing across ~6 devices. When i set up the most recent device, i accidentally mapped a local directory to the wrong synced folder and created a huge mess of files going the wrong places across all devices. i paused everything everywhere and cleaned it up on my primary device/NAS (which took forever!). what’s the best way to bring everything back online to ensure the changes i made on the primary get propagated out to the remote devices and those mis-placed files don’t find their way back to the wrong spots? Is syncthing smart enough to know which changes were made last where in this scenario? i ended up moving, deleting, adding, etc.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE. I’d like to get this working today so before i start making a bunch of local changes on each device and getting in to even more syncing complexity
PS - I have also created a new folder and shared with each device with the correct path etc. and removed the offending folder everywhere so that should no longer be an issue.
I’d say you should set the folders on the NAS to “Send Only”, then unpause everything and let the sync stabilise, then override remote changes (if there are any).
Honestly, this really depends what has been done exactly, but the point of using “Send Only” it to be able to override (manually, using the button in the Web GUI) any unwanted remote changes. Using “Send Only” will also prevent any remote changes from being pushed to the NAS.
