Syncing between Windows and a Remote Server

I’m new to Syncthing. I want to have Syncthing copy files from the Sync folder on the remote server, which currently contains six files, to the Sync folder on my desktop, which is currently empty.

I followed the directions to configure Syncthing on my desktop (Windows 11) and on the remote server, but it’s not doing anything. I created a Sync folder on both systems and both Sync folders contain the .stfolder folder.

I feel like I must have missed a step but I don’t know what that is. Here are what the Syncthing screens look like:

I see that they both say “Unshared” but I don’t know why.

Is there something obvious that I’ve missed?

You missed the sharing part.

On either device:

  1. Expand the Folder
  2. Click on Edit
  3. Enable Sharing → [name of other end].

After doing that, on the other end there should be a prompt to share it, click “Share” on that.

Thanks! That fixed it!

By the way, how often does it rescan? I added another file but it’s been about 5-10 minutes and it hasn’t synced it yet.

Periodic scans every hour (by default, configurable in Advanced → Full Rescan Interval (s)), or 10 seconds after the file watcher detects a change. You can manually rescan by clicking the “Rescan” button.

Are you sure there’s anything in the folder at the correct path? Can you take screenshots of the web GUI with the folder expanded?

I just saw that it had synced. I was just going to edit my reply but I saw you had replied to it already.

Thanks again!
