Synced error that maybe related to some encryption

Hi, I have two PCs both running on Manjaro Linux Plasma KDE connected by syncthing. They have several synced folders, but one folder has this issue. If I activate its synchronization, I immediately got this message displayed in a yellow box at the top of the web GUI.

2026-08-17 11:01:11: Failed to verify encryption consistency (folder.label=“{folder label}” folder.id={folder id} folder.type=sendreceive device={device id} error=“remote expects to exchange encrypted data, but is configured for plain data” log.pkg=model)

I don’t remember encrypting any files under this folder, however, some of the files were created in my old macbook. The status shows as “Up to Date” although they are actually not synced, I have confirmed making changes in one PC is not reflected in the other one. Under the “Shared With” information, on one PC, the name of the other PC is shown, while on the second PC, a lock icon followed by the name of the first PC is shown. The “Shared With” information under the other synced folders on the second PC shows the first name’s PC without the lock icon. How do I resolve this issue?

On the second PC, you inadvertently entered a password while sharing to the first. Remove that and it will work. Look under “Edit” - “Sharing”.

If you can’t edit the password right away, try unchecking the sharing checkbox, saving, then checking it again while making sure the password field is really blank.
