Is there a way to setup and test my wide area network, locally? Assuming syncthing will always use my local area network if all the nodes are local, but how can I force it to go thru a WAN even though both nodes are inside my LAN?
You can disable local discovery, and you can specify address manually. I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish exactly, but some combination of that may help.
I am able to get my 2 nodes connected locally, but have not been able to connect them when I take my laptop to another location in another city. I can’t debug it when I have two systems in two different locations, need to be in the same location and simulate being in two different locations.
Use your the IP address of the WAN, and make sure youpsecify unique ports for each machine and forward them correctly through the router.
