Preserving existing xattr

Hello,

If I sync files between my mac laptop and windows desktop, and create a file on the mac with xattrs, I understand the xattr will not be present on the copy created on Windows. However if I edit file contents in Windows, when those changes sync back to mac, will xattrs be lost there as well?

(Because we do not alter existing files; we create a new temp file, build it up with the expected contents, and then swap the old file with the new as fast as we can.)
