Out of Sync Items but No Error?

Hi there!

I’ve been a Syncthing user for a few years, but I still run into little issues here and there I’m not sure how to resolve.

In this case, I’m running Syncthing on both my Windows desktop computer, and a Synology NAS to sync a variety of files. I manage my music library on my computer, but use Syncthing to push the files to my NAS, for example.

I’ve got 5 music files that are out of sync, but don’t see an error or way to resolve the issue. The desktop identifies the 5 files, and seems to be stuck on 99% with those items as the culprit. Meanwhile, the NAS sees those same 5 items, but I can’t figure out how to get it to sync. The filenames are absolutely insane (sort of a joke by the artist), so I wondered if it was an issue of filepath length; I just don’t see an error to address here.

Attaching some screenshots of the issue.

This is the screen in the desktop Syncthing window showing the 5 out of sync items: Screenshot 2024-12-23 213759

Finally here is the list with the filenames:

Any idea how I can get these items resolved? Thanks!

Are you sure those filenames are valid on Windows? I looks like they might contain some invalid characters, but it’s hard to tell for sure.

The NAS shows these files as “failed items” (second screenshot). You can click on those failed items which will give you an error message telling you why these files failed to sync. This error message is likely helpful.

Ah, got it. Yep, file name too long. Curse you, Four Tet! I think I’m just going to rename the files and let the metadata carry the load.
