On demand synchronization

Hi, I’ve used Syncthing in the past without any problems. I’ve now changed my setup, having a workstation without space issues and a laptop with limited space for on-the-go work.

Ideally, I’d like my entire work folder to be synchronized, but this would be unnecessary since I only work on a few projects (subfolders within the work folder) at a time. Is it possible to share the work folder and then decide, from either the workstation or the laptop, which project folders are available on the laptop?

I considered using a .ignore file in the work folder and editing it to control the syncing of various folders, but this approach seems a bit sloppy.

What would be really helpful is to have all the work subfolders shown on the laptop, with the ones that aren’t synced faded, possibly accompanied by a right-click menu option to request synchronization.

If you could provide some advice or point me to existing tools, I’d be thankful.

It’s the way to go, just make sure to use the right patterns: Ignoring Files
