Issues with existing dataset (Turenas Scale)

Syncthing App Version:1.29.2 Version:1.1.11

I have a existing dataset with all my pictures on it. This is also used by Immich. I am trying to use syncthing so I can create a backup on my desktop.

I believe its a permission issue, but with tons of searching and attempts, I cannot find a solution.

Syncthing configuration additional storage Host path in Truenas is set to /mnt/Storage/pictures

Mount path is /sync_pictures

When using the web ui to add this “pictures” dataset, I have entered Folder Label as “sync_pictures” and Folder Path as “/mnt/Storage/pictures”

I get the following errors

2025-02-17 20:20:31: Failed to create folder root directory: mkdir /mnt/Storage: permission denied

2025-02-17 20:20:31: Error on folder "sync_pictures" (grpa5-nercb): folder path missing

Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong? pictures dataset is also a smb share, and I have given permission to ‘apps’ with full control.

I suspect you want to give Syncthing the mount path instead (/sync_pictures).

Tried and doesn’t change anything.

Other suggestions?

Not really, other than understand how permissions and volumes work on your system, sorry. :confused:

Apps for TrueNAS Scale are all in Docker/OCI containers, so you’ll have to sort out accessing the storage from the TrueNAS side into your Syncthing app container.
