Is it more efficient to share subdirectories or the parent?

I have a directory that I want to share with between 4 and 6 devices. The directory has a bunch of sub-directories. It’s about 20GB in total. Some directories have a lot of small files, others have a few larger files. The initial scan and sync takes quite some time, that is to be expected - not so bothered about it. I’m wondering what would be most efficient way to sync these files. Share the parent folder, or set up shares for each of the second level child folders?

Thanks!

It doesn’t matter. One way is more work for you. Either way is about the same for Syncthing.

Thanks, I like the less work approach, I didn’t look at the internals and thought the sub-dir approach may speed up the hash calculations.

Thanks for the reply
