Interesting Data Rate Discrepancy? (Mbps vs MiB/s)

Anyone know why, on a windows machine, data rates are shown in the MiB/s format and on an iPad, connected to the same server UI, the data rates are shown in Mbps? Datarates are usually discussed in Megabits per second (Mbps). Why don’t all browsers show the same format?

Can the windows UI be changed to match?
