Getting this message in the log “syncing: insufficient space in basic” and failure to sync, even though necessary free space is set to 0%. Using Linux. About 2 GB free on disk.
There are two settings, one per folder, and one for syncthings database, the message should explain which one it is.

Problem solved.
Just a suggestion. It isn’t the most intuitive to have a general setting and folder specific setting for disk space. That being said, I don’t have a better idea without losing the ability to set this setting specifically.
