Im probably doing it wrong but i downloaded the DMG and i cant get it to run unless i have the DMG mounted. I am running a Mac m1. Monterey.

You’re not alone, the macOS wrapper for some reason remembers the dmg as the location if you launch it once from there. That should be fixed. There are other threads about it here on the forum, with a defaults write command to fix it.

I just saw the defaults write command and will probably test that out to see if that works for me. Thank you.

yup the default writes fixed it… used this one specifically
I was able to fix this by doing the following:
I used AppCleaner (AppCleaner ) to fully remove Syncthing
I deleted the Syncthing.dmg file and permanently removed it from Trash (this step was probably optional)
I re-downloaded Syncthing
I opened the Syncthing.dmg file and dragged and dropped the Syncthing.app to the Applications folder.
I closed and dismounted the Syncthing.dmg
I then launched Syncthing.app and proceeded as normal
Since doing the above, Syncthing has worked as expected without …
