If you created ten shared Folders, you can share just one of them. One way to do it would be to Add Remote Device from “Main PC” and clicking the Sharing tab to select just the Folder you want to share.
Thanks for reply.
Sorry for misunderstanding. That 10 folders are in one main folder which is shared with PC1 & PC2. From this 10 folders I just want to share only one folder to pc 3
My suggestion would be to share each Folder individually. This will allow you to manage and see statistics for each shared Folder, and it is (in my opinion) the easiest configuration for humans to understand and manage. To do this, remove the shared Folder from all Syncthing configurations, and share each Folder individually.
Alternatively you could create a single shared Folder from “Main PC” to “PC 3”. While this is less work for you to do up front, it creates what could be a more confusing configuration to manage and troubleshoot later. I don’t recommend this.
Adding to what @chaos already posted, see Syncthing’s FAQ entry: Am I able to nest shared folders in Syncthing?
There are also several earlier forum posts regarding setting up nested shared folders: https://forum.syncthing.net/search?q=nested
I don’t think any of this is necessary. Why wouldn’t they share the whole folder and add an exclusion to “include” the subfolder they want and ignore everything else??
Isn’t that exactly what ignore patterns are for?
I’ve seen some interesting unintended consequences of using ignore patterns for this purpose, here on this forum. Can it be done? Certainly. Is it the way I recommend? No: I think sharing each Folder individually has significant advantages for the human(s) using and maintaining Syncthing over time.
Where’s the fun in taking the easy option?
Yup, it’s what I do for my setup.
However, I understand why some users might prefer to see Syncthig’s UI showing the specific folder path they’re interested in syncing to a particular device rather than have to decipher ignore patterns to determine what is and isn’t being synced every time they look at it. So under certain scenarios, nested folders can be simpler than maintaining ignore patterns.
