How Can I setup Version 1.x on Windows?

Today, I installed the v1.29.1 (dated May 30) package of the Bill-Stewart windows installer, choosing the allusers install mode. But, once it was running, the web UI said it was using version 2.0! I’m guessing during installation, or shortly thereafter, it auto-upgraded?

So, how can I install it on Windows 11 and pin it to the 1.x line? I don’t want the bleeding edge as I’d prefer to avoid the “rough edges” spoken of in the release notes.

Syncthing by itself doesn’t auto upgrade to 2.0, but I guess the installer in question might grab the latest version as part of setup. You can probably downgrade the Syncthing binary after installation, though you will need to remove the config file already created as it will be too new for Syncthing 1.x.

(OTOH I expect the rough edges to be in upgrade scenarios, less so in new installs)

I don’t use the installer myself but remember from reading its README that you can supply a specific version of Syncthing for offline installation. This would probably prevent it from downloading the latest version. So I recommend reading the README of the installer on that topic.

I am guessing a downgrade will not work, as the upgrade to 2.0 requires a db migration.

I see now that the README discusses offline installation. Thank you @Martchus , this is what I will do. Offline Installation README link: GitHub - Bill-Stewart/SyncthingWindowsSetup: Syncthing Windows Setup
