folder id usage

which is the practical application of the folder ID field? i didnt get it :frowning: thanks in advance

It identifies the folder, so two devices know what they’re talking about.

The ID used to be the name but it was easy for conflicts to occur.

For example, two users wanting to share a folder called photos when they already had a share with the Id Photos.

Now the ID can be a random string reducing the chance of collisions and you can still label the shares something meaningful.
