I’ve been very curious as to how ES File Explorer brings a prompt on Android to allow it complete RW access to the extSdCard on Android 5.0, but Syncthing allows no such access opportunity.

There are APIs for this in Android, but those aren’t (yet) supported by Go.
How does ES File Explorer create a pop-up on Android to allow access to an extSD drive without GO support?
ES File Explorer is not written in Go
Syncthing for Android is not a native Application. Its just an Wrapper Application around the actual Syncthing (Which is written in Go).
