CloudStatus: An easier way to understand Syncthing on macOS

Hi everyone,

A few months ago I started using Syncthing, and I really liked it from the very beginning.

However, I often found myself opening the Web UI just to check whether everything was OK. I wanted a simpler way to answer that question, so I decided to build one. That’s how CloudStatus came to life.

CloudStatus doesn’t aim to replace Syncthing or its Web UI. Its goal is simply to interpret the information Syncthing already provides and present it in a clearer, more intuitive way.

It’s a native macOS menu bar application, completely free and open source, compatible with macOS Monterey and later.

Since this is my first open source project, your feedback is especially valuable to me. Any suggestions, criticism, or ideas for improvement would be greatly appreciated and will help me continue making CloudStatus better.

I’m confused by the name though.

Good question! :blush:

The name actually comes from the idea of having the synchronization status available at a glance.

I know “Cloud” can be a little confusing since the app also supports fully distributed Syncthing setups. I chose it because many users (including myself) use Syncthing as a personal cloud replacement, and I wanted a simple, memorable name.

That said, I completely understand your point, and I really appreciate the feedback!
