Clarification of transifex string

Last past weeks I reviewed all german strings on Transifex (except one) For the following string, I need some clarification: Shown instead of Device ID in the cluster status. Will be updated to the name the device advertises if left empty.

Do I get it right:

when adding a new device, the given devices name will be automatically promoted to all other connected devices or will only the shown default-device id be overwritten on the local device?

When you add a device, its not mandatory to add a name. If the name is left empty, its popultaed at the point they connect. If its not empty, the value is retained and nothing happens.
