Buttons in Conflict Resolver jump around with different filename lengths (Layout Issue)

Hello Syncthing Community,

I’ve noticed a recurring UI issue in the Conflict Resolver (Conflict Resolver dialog) that makes it unnecessarily difficult to use.

The Problem: When there are multiple conflicts in the list and you navigate through the entries (or select them), the “Choose” button (in the “Configuring Filename” section) jumps back and forth horizontally.

Cause: This is presumably because the column for the filename is dynamically adjusted to the length of the respective filename. Since filenames (as seen in the screenshot: CRKNPW0393.sync-conflict-... vs. shorter names) vary in length, the button’s position shifts every time you change the selection.

Impact: This makes quickly processing multiple conflicts nearly impossible, as you have to constantly reposition the mouse cursor to hit the button. It’s a classic “UI jitter” problem.

Proposed Solution: The button should have a fixed position (e.g., right-aligned at the edge of the container or within a fixed column width), regardless of how long the filename text above it is.

System Information:

Syncthing Version: v2.1.5 and before

OS: Windows 11 and before

Attached is a screenshot illustrating the situation. You can see that the button is positioned relatively far to the right because the filename is long. With shorter names, it slides to the left.

Thanks for your work on this great tool!

I think you may want to report the issue directly at https://github.com/GermanCoding/SyncTrayzor/issues :innocent:.

Yeah the SyncTrayzor issue tracker is correct here, but I can also take it from here. The button positioning is a known problem, the scaling diverges depending on whether the filename is so long that it needs a scrollbar or not.

Note that you can select multiple items at the same time, so if you want to select the same option for multiple items you can do so in a single click.
