Hi, I am happily using Syncthing on my Mac. I am syncing a whole external drive, the folder is defined as /Volumes/DriveName. Somehow a folder named “DirveName” appeared in the volumes directory, which caused the actual drive to be renamed to “DriveName 1”, without that being visible in finder. I think the folder was created by syncthing, when the drive was disconnected.
When you add a folder, and the path doesn’t exist, Syncthing will indeed try to create it. Similarly, when it starts up and the folder is new/empty (never had any files synced) and doesn’t exist, it’ll try to create it.
Thank you for your quick response! That is good to know. Then I have to quit Syncthing when the drive is not connected. Maybe there is a way to exclude the “Volumes/” Directory from the folder creation function? I think a program should not create a folder in this location.
Well, as soon as there has ever been a file in there that Syncthing has seen it should no longer try to create it.
