Automatic Upgrade isn't working

Hi. I really like syncthing for working on multiple computers. I have it set up on OS X, Peppermint OS, and Linux Mint. The only issue I’m having is that on Linux Mint I get the following message all of the time:

“2016-09-21 14:47:19: Automatic upgrade: open /usr/local/bin/syncthing499532173: permission denied”

The numbers at the end of the message seem to change every time. Syncthing is owned by root and located in /usr/local/bin

The user who runs Syncthing needs to have write permissions for the folder where the binary is to create a temp file and replace the Syncthing binary.
