Any update on the Play Store issues?

I know it’s out of the devs hands but i was curious to know if there was any news from Google side to solve this issue since last time it was brought up?

@imsodin

Broke my tablet and ran smack into this.

For anyone else ending up here, you can side-load it from the GitHub releases page: Releases · syncthing/syncthing-android · GitHub

Even better: use F-Droid :slight_smile:

I am aware it is on f-droid, thank you. But my question is about if there are any news about Syncthing eventually making it back on the Play Store.

Is it out of question at this point?

I’ve been wondering the same thing about the Play Store so in the meantime I’m using GitHub as my source for new versions of software. There is an application on GitHub that you can install on your Android phone that monitors GitHub software that you’ve installed for updated versions so that it alerts you when a new version becomes available.

Its called obtainium.

I’m running for applications that I installed from GitHub and it monitors each of them and alerts me when there is an update available. This is my solution to the App Store.

I would forget about the Play Store at this point. Google seems to be extremely restrictive when it comes to the “all files access” permission, and Syncthing needs that in order to sync files located on SD cards.

Well that’s a bummer. It’s going to be a good excuse to finally get into F-Droid, which i wanted to try for a while anyway, but i realized it was off the store while trying to introduce a new user which turned very reluctant once we realized he’d need to circumvent the Play Store.

I think @imsodin mentionned being in conversations with Google 2 months ago, i was hopeful it would come to a solution, but i guess not considering what you’ve mentionned. Thank you for the information.
