Why would anyone object to where you keep your repos? Are you planning something objectionable?
I don’t know if there’s any protocol. Again, first open source project.
Ah, I see your other post now. No, you are free to put the source where you prefer. If you were to want to contribute though, that process is via PR on GitHub so that might be a complicating factor. For contributions, I’d suggest starting with scratching an itch that you care about: fix something that’s annoying or improve something you find lacking.
