add device without the ID

can i somehow connect devices without the devices ID like just with the ipv6 multicast or something

The ID is the crucial information needed for authentication. Without ID there’s no security (and security is not optional in syncthing), so no (but there are things like the introducer feature).

True but… It already can identify other clients on the same LAN and add them with a couple of clicks (plus confirmation on the other side).

You don’t need to type the actual ID if there’s no convenient way to copy/paste or scan a QR or whatever.

Really?

Never seen it happen. Is it for new installations, or is there an option/command to trigger this?

This happens automatically when adding new devices, where you should be presented with a list of detected Syncthing instances in the same network. Firewalls, router configuration (e.g. client isolation) and similar may prevent them from appearing though.
