Aborted scan of path ... file does not exist

I get flags in the GUI:

2025-11-14 06:21:51: Aborted scan of path ‘z840-1.mail/.thunderbird/3xqyqis0.default/Mail/mail.sdi-baja.com/friends.sbd/.Ehlerts y Petersons.y66A3X’ due to an unexpected error: file does not exist

2025-11-14 06:23:41: Aborted scan of path ‘archive/.thunderbird/3xqyqis0.default/Mail/mail.sdi-baja.com/friends.sbd/.Ehlerts y Petersons.B8Pl9X’ due to an unexpected error: file does not exist

I click OK. when I update the .thunderbird folder it returns … Not always the same “non-existing” files.

Happens on a couple of the nodes too

oops: running Debian Trixie, Mate desktop. syncthing installed from the Debian repositories

No data loss that I detect, just Annoying

nobody knows and nobody care… cool, I can go with that

Is Thunderbird running when this happens?

yes

That’s why. Thunderbird is deleting files after they’ve been scanned but before they’ve been synced.

My recommendation is to consider pausing the Folder that Thunderbird is using, while you’re using it. You could script it to happen automatically.

Another valid option is to ignore the error messages.

It’s a bug, should be filed on GitHub.

My personal Rule #1 for Syncthing Club is to not disagree with @calmh .

Indeed, I recommend that you file a bug for this one.

fine, good idea. where in that GitHub to be found?

found and filed
