0-byte "Out of Sync" bug is still here

This was a problem on v1 and someone here told me to wait for v2 and see if the problem will go away with the new database format, but it didn’t.

So I updated to v2 everywhere and readded all folders and synced them between all devices and there were no stuck “Out of Sync” messages. After a short while the problem comes back.

I have computer A which is untrusted and stores encrypted data. And computers B(laptop), C, D which are trusted. They sync a folder “data” with A using encryption password, but they also sync between each other without encryption password. On computer B in “Remote Devices” section there are “Out of Sync” items for remote device “A”. It shows “41 items, ~0 B”. When I click on them I see a list of files from folder “data”. The size of all of them shows 0. These are the files which were deleted on computer C after initial sync. Hence in “Mod. Device” column it shows “C” in Out of Sync list. And this is stuck forever. On computer A in “Remote Devices” section all computers show as “Up to Date”. On both A and B in “Folder” section the “data” folder shows as “Up to Date”.

What do I do from here? The actual syncing seems to work fine. But I would really like to remove these wrong messages.

It appears the same problem appeared on computer C. For the remote device A there is 1 item out of sync:

1 items, ~0 B

In the list there is one file in the “data” folder. It was also deleted in C.

Please see “a file isn’t syncing” and/or “the folder counts seem incorrect” here and we can debug: Debugging Syncthing — Syncthing documentation

I remind that the file “enc\ZaNoF6UUknzd9MCo6RKC-qJ8” is deleted and is not present on any of devices. Even the whole folder “enc” is deleted

Just a comment, but if possible, please try to surround the pasted code with ``` (before and after it). Otherwise, the forum butchers the formatting completely .

If you can still edit your posts, you could delete them yourself. Otherwise, please write which attachments you want to delete, and we should be able to take care of it.

Still didn’t understand how. I tried on one code, but it it still displays awfully. By the way that is why I pasted the next text codes in txt files. But how do I make it look ok on the forum?

PS. Ok, got it. Just have to undo “blockquote” first. Correcting the posts..

Glad that you’ve managed to find a way . Attachments are still useful for larger files (as the forum won’t allow you to paste them directly), but otherwise, it’s much easier to troubleshoot if everything is visible on the screen at once.

You’re going to have to use a forward slash here to get useful info, sorry; enc/ZaNoF6UUknzd9MCo6RKC-qJ8

Unfortunately it will probably not help given the encrypted/untrusted stuff involved, making it quite hard to get any comparable info from the receiving side.

I decided to remove the entries by adding real 0-byte file for each entry and then deleting it. Now it is “Up to Date”. But now the untrusted device has “Unexpected Items” lol. I guess we just should ignore such errors and continue using Syncthing.

Could you please delete all logs from my messages?
