Why does SyncThing claim a dir has 9.5GB when dua reports 1.04GB?

So…

cd ~/Sync
dua -x
...
1.04GB total

but SyncThing GUI reports:

 Global State 524 75 ~9.6 Gi
 Local State 524 75 ~9.6 Gi

How do I “troubleshoot” this?

This is often caused by sparse files. See

Perfecto! Thank you @Nummer378!

I used du -h --apparent-size and tracked it down to a sparse file that was an “extracted” disk image. Definitely makes sense, just forgot about it.

Cheers!
