Syncthing on Raspberry Pi with its own user account?

Hello everyone. I did not find any HOW TOs for installing and configuring Syncthing running under its own user account on Raspbian or Raspberry Pi OS … maybe someone here could help out, please?

Thank you very much!

PS: I think it’s outlined rather roughly here: Starting Syncthing Automatically — Syncthing v1 documentation

This might need some sudo adduser --system --no-create-home --group syncthing before, which results in the following line in /etc/passwd:

I don’t know why it says /home/syncthing … according to this article, we could create e.g. /var/lib/syncthing (or /run/syncthing ???) and add this to the /etc/passwd file; then, syncthing initially starts.
