Sync All / Sync on demand

Hello. I’m coming from Bittorrent sync and I want to use syncthing now.

I would like to add a feature request:

Please add a “sync all / Sync off” button to shared folders like bittorrent sync does ( if possible ) so I can download only the files I want and not the whole folder…

I want to start use syncthing and this feature is more or less the reason I’m using bittorrent sync at the moment.

Maybe there are other ways to do this but I think this feature will be the best way to do that easily.

Hi! I don't know if this is the right place for it. I thought about to post on GitHub Issue Tracker, but maybe it's something which also concerns to common users, instead of just developers. And I don't know how much of this is a problem to @kozec deal with on GTK. I'm sorry. I'm a designer, not a developer. There's some discussions about to selectively download the files in a folder. I think, specially considering the UX, that we could have a type of folder to just download placeholder file…

Selective Sync?

Will Syncthing support Selective Sync like Dropbox does, which lets you exclude certain subfolders from syncing? For example, you might have a small laptop and a large backup server. You would sometimes want to remove content from the laptop to free up space, but not delete it from the server. The laptop user is essentially checking out a rotating subset of the server's content depending on what they're working on. It's possible to kind of do this right now using only top-level directories…

I mean people will be able to see the folder content ( placeholder files ) and then choose what to download

Do you mean selective sync, like:

I think this feature would be more than selective sync, adding the ability for the user to browse files, and (on demand) download them + exclude them from the ignorelist.

The owncloud app has something like that: you can browse all the files, you can open them, which syncs the respective file to the device, and you can also star them, which means future updates (on the server) will also be pulled.
