Didn’t think of the node3 updating scenario but it shouldn’t be that hard to make it skip if it sees a temp file and try later should it ?

It doesn’t know, if that temp file is from a previous sync (they are kept 24h to prevent retransfer) or if it’s from another syncthing instance. As Syncthing isn’t meant for multiple instances syncing the same folder, there is no reason to potentially break something by implementing behavior to make “same folder syncing” less problematic.

Yeah something is going to get very confused here. I don’t think it’ll cause data loss, but I could be wrong - the scenario of two Syncthings working on the same directory mounted over nfs is very much not supported or recommended. As wweich says, don’t do that.
