Risk of Minecraft World Corruption When Syncing Between Two Devices?

I’m thinking about syncing my Minecraft world folder between two PCs so I can continue playing on either device. But I’m worried about possible file conflicts or world corruption if both devices are online at the same time. Has anyone experienced issues with syncing game save folders? What precautions should be taken?”

Hi!

I’ve never tried syncing saves, because I worry about world corruption as well. What I do is run a (java edition Minecraft) server on the desktop pc in the basement which is more beefy than the laptop I usually play on and then I use syncthing to sync the PrismLauncher instances between the two.

As a precaution I usually stop the synchronization before playing and continue afterwards.

Once I had problems because I accidentally ran two different versions of PrismLauncher on laptop and desktop which broke the instance on the desktop. I recovered by setting the broken instance to read only and then reset the changes after upgrading prism.

Had no problems since. Especially xaero and journeymap maps and waypoints l, keybinds, emi favourites etc. are synced fine.

I’ve read somewhere that other people also sync worlds/saves but I don’t know specifics.
