Is it possible to get rid of "needing to restart syncthing"?

Hi

One thing that bothers me the most is restarting ST on every change. This seems like a big issue especially when ST decides to detach from the main process, ie like from the terminal. I have seen this happening especially on the Arm and Android versions.

In any case it would be awesome if we restart it only after an upgrade. The main issue is that everytime when ST restarts it starts from scratch in a way, I mean the whole folder scanning, connecting etc. This is a bigger issue when we are on mobile devices and laptops where the battery is an important resource.

In principle yes, and there are small steps of work in that direction. In practice, it’s mostly when you add and remove devices/folders and that doesn’t happen all the time after a cluster is initially set up…
