ignore pattern problem

Hello dear community,

I’ve got a problem with getting Syncthing to sync only PDFs in subfolders.

My setup is simple, Syncthing on my Synology is configured as send only and on my Android tablet as receive only.

As I said I need to sync only PDFs in certain subfolders (and subfolders thereof).

So I’ve set up a sync folder called School, which contains various subfolders with their own subfolders for each year, like this:

/School/
/School/Books/
/School/History/
/School/History/2023:24 History/
/School/History/2024:25 History/
/School/Latin/
/School/Latin/2023:24 Latin/
/School/Latin/2024:25 Latin/

PDFs in subfolders “2024:25 History” and “2024:25 Latin” (and their subfolders) should be synced and everything else ignored.

My stignore file looks like this:

!/History/2024:25 History/**.pdf
!/Latin/2024:25 Latin/**.pdf
*

However my tablet says Out of Sync and won’t start syncing. Is my ignore pattern wrong or isn’t this possible at all? I’ve read the documentation and searched the forum but haven’t found a solution.

Could somebody please check my ignore pattern logic? Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks correct as far as it goes, my guess would be that the problem is that : is not a supported character in file names on most Android devices.

Ok, that would be really simple. I’ll change the : to a dash and see if it works.

Thanks for your help!
