This is my first time here 
I’ve just successfully synchronized my first folder between two computers, but the folder structure on the destination computer is totally different… is this normal?

You have enabled encryption, so the folder on the other side is set to Receive Encrypted. It is not meant to be manipulated in any way. If you want to sync your files and be able to manipulate them on both sides, then you should not enter any password when sharing the folder. Please also don’t mark the other device as “Untrusted” in the settings.
As for the current folder, you need to remove it from Syncthing on the encrypted side and also remove the files physically from the disk. Then, share it again but this time as the default Send & Receive type.
