I use Syncthing since 2 years now and i am happy with it. I just have a question, what is the difference between Syncthing ([https://syncthing.net/](https://syncthing.net/)) and Pulse ([https://ind.ie/blog/pulse/](https://ind.ie/blog/pulse/)) it is a new project ?

There’s a bit of history here. First read:

> This is out of date; see this post for the continuation: I’d like to introduce you all to [ind.ie](https://ind.ie/) - an initiative to create independent technology, as in independent from being spied on by various entities, and to @aral. We’ve been talking about what they’re building and what they want to accomplish, and how syncthing fits into that picture. For me, solving a technical problem in what I consider the right way has been the prime driver, while ind.ie is more about using technology to solve a p…

You may recall that I announced that syncthing was going to be renamed Pulse and live under the stewardship of [Ind.ie](http://Ind.ie), almost exactly a month ago. This isn’t happening, at least not right now and not exactly in this manner. Syncthing is going to remain syncthing. The reason for this is personal. I, in the position of lead developer, have felt that the fit between me an [Ind.ie](http://Ind.ie) isn’t reall…

The upshot is that Ind.ie maintain a fork of Syncthing (called Pulse). I’ve no idea whether Pulse has been maintained or updated (I heard anything about it since '14).

Pulse is a year old stalled version of Syncthing that essentially didn’t go anywhere from there.
