Hello together
I have been using Syncthing for about 3 years. I am not deep into the matter. The synchronisation works 80% of the time. I now want to solve some recurring problems with the help of support.
the devices often do not connect - especially the Android devices. This often happens when the synchronisation is not running correctly (data records are not synchronised on a device)… After restarting the devices and thus Syncthing, the synchronisation works again
Below are the questions (unfortunately partly basic):
I assume that i have not installed Syncthing correctly on Win 10 and Win 11 (under task scheduling).
on the Android devices, the installation is predefined under the app. Can I improve this?
Thanks for the help! Franz Cresta
The general overview is useful, but what’s really needed are specific details about the devices involved, network connectivity (e.g. wired, wireless, mobile internet), etc.
Screenshots of Syncthing’s web UI (with the impacted folder and device panels expanded) “when synchronisation is not running correctly” plus the runtime info shown under Actions → Logs would be ideal. Do this for every device at the time that things aren’t syncing.
Based on the available info, there’s a long list of potential issues not directly related to Syncthing. On the Android devices, battery usage optimizations could be shutting down/pausing Syncthing… there could be network issues… there could be anti-virus filtering issues… etc.
Auto-starting Syncthing via Windows Task Scheduler is fine, and it’s generally the simplest option. Since you said “synchronisation works 80% of the time”, I’m assuming that permissions and such are all fine.
Syncthing’s full web UI is also available for extra configuration options.
