Can I clean up the history of my files in 2.x?

I moved today from 1.x to 2.x. No problems so far. Thanks a lot for the continuous development!

When keeping an eye on the migration to my “main” Syncthing server, I noticed lines such as

Aug 20 10:59:07 srv syncthing[1777375]: 2025-08-20 10:59:07 INF Still migrating folder (folder=9radw-nwfxg files=563000 ...

560+k files, that’s a lot. Way more than I have today (at least I think so). I wonder if this si not some kind of history of previous/changed files from my whole 1.x history (which is a few years old).

My questions

  • is there a way to check what kind of files I have (“current” files vs “versionned” vs something else
  • if there is some kind of history - how to purge it?

Generally speaking, I would like to use the opportunity of the 1.x → 2.x transition to have a hard stare at the versionning, history etc. I may be having without knowing it.

Note: I do not have File Versioning set up on any of my shares

Those will be deleted files. See other threads on that topic, there was a whole fracas about cleaning them up. In short, they’ll be migrated, and then cleaned out later if they are older than 15 months. You can lower that interval by command line switch or environment variable.
